Real-time Exposure was commissioned by Vivian Galbán and her representing gallery ROLF ART Gallery for Paris Photo 2023. It consists of a large-format, interactive installation of a camera obscura where the image creation process is carried out “in real time” by the artist herself in interaction with visitors. The result is a work of art, a photographic portrait, an impression of each person’s own experience of the artwork or the fair “in real time.” Alongside the installation, the proposal is enriched by a growing collection of the resulting images, while on the other side, a monitor tracks everything happening within the large enclosure in real time.

Vivian Galbán´s project is a site-specific installation that pays tribute to photography, questioning the medium and analog photographic processes in contemporary times. Having conceived a human-scale camera obscura that deconstructs and exposes the image-making process, Galbán develops a performance that produces and triggers an interactive experience between the visitor and the resulting work, opening debates about other artistic practices from an interactive, relational, social, and even digital perspective.

Estudio Rotondo supported the artist by adapting the instalation to Paris Photo´s space and coordinating the artwork´s construction process.
