MIRA is a contemporary art fair that showcases the vitality of the Latin American art scene. It takes place at the Maison de l’Amérique Latine, a historic mansion in the heart of Paris. As an intimate, quality-focused event, MIRA presents a selection of galleries specializing in Latin American art.
As the fair’s design partner, Estudio Rotondo created MIRA’s identity and website. The visual inspiration came from the Atlantic Ocean, which historically has served as a vital conduit for exchange between Europe and America. Now, the sea itself will be used as a sustainable alternative to air transport to transport the artworks exhibited at the fair.
As a maritime connection, the Atlantic Ocean facilitated trade, migration, and the transmission of ideas. The ocean also witnessed the bleak legacy of colonization, including the Atlantic slave trade, as well as the most recent histories of Latin American diasporas.
This complex history of exchange has shaped the unique identities of both continents, resulting in vibrant artistic traditions that combine European and American influences. A rich tapestry of artistic diversity.
